Relevant Accomplishments

  • Developed full-fledged chemicals characterization labs for product testing, research and development.
  • Synthesized and patented three asphalt anti-stripping agents that reduced the tendency of asphalt and aggregate material from deteriorating during in element weather conditions.
  • Remotely, formulated new hand wash detergent and oven degreaser for a food service company.
  • Remotely synthesized and commercialized a potassium based fertilizer for a golf and lawn type fertilizer company.
  • Formulated a new corrosion inhibitor with protection lower than 0.05 lb/ft2 at 350 oF without an intensifier for oilfield.
  • Remotely formulated an improved anti-seize lubricant for the aerospace business.
  • Remotely formulated a top three coil tubing lubricant for oilfield company.
  • Formulation and development of more economical proppant buoyancy amino propyl substituted poly siloxane coatings for improving proppant transport. The proppant buoyancy coating was trialed for EQT and Encana.
  • Formulated and patented anionic nano flow back aids with non-ionic surfactants and micelle reducing agents.  Colloidal size of the nano anionic flow back aids was measured to be 30 nm.
  • Re-engineered company’s Pour Point Depressant (PPD) manufacturing process by improving catalyst performance and monitoring polymer Mw by two new developed analytical methods.
  • Quality Control Chemist for the pharmaceutical, medical device, cosmetic, dietary supplement, and food industries.  Responsible for quality control analysis and reports with Agilent gas chromatograph, Waters HPLC, Thermo Fisher Inductive Coupled Plasma Spectrometer, Perkin Elmer Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, Dionex Ion Chromatograph, UV-Vis Spectroscopy, Viscosity by Brookfield Viscometer and Capillary Viscometer, Conductivity, Total Organic Carbon, Kjeldahl, Total Proten, many titrations and gravimetric methods.
  • Formulated, tested and patented inorganic acid corrosion inhibitor for Schlumberger (see US 6,500,943).   Corrosion inhibitor was also used by Nalco mining division.
  • Patented (US 6,787,506) polyacrylamide friction reducer, determined its performance in a friction flow loop and commercialized it.  The friction reducer provided $40 million dollars of revenue annually.
  • Discovered new use for polyhydroxyetheramine (PHEA) synthesized from reaction of the diglycidyl ether of Bisphenol A and Jeffamine as a relative permeation modifier and patented this application; this was used in 11 oil and gas wells with a ROI of $6.1 Million annually.
  • Synthesized, pilot planted and commercialized Dow’s first hydroxy terminated polyester for powder coatings.
  • Synthesized and patented low VOC water-borne epoxy resin can coatings. Set-up testing lab with MEK rubs, pencil hardness, reverse impact, adhesion, blush resistance, wedge-bend failure.   Introduced top water-borne coating to Glidden.
  • Synthesized a styrene /acrylic copolymer that was then formulated with glycidyl methacrylate (GMA).  It was extruded, sprayed, cured and evaluated.  This acrylic powder coating was covered in US Patents 5,663,259 and 5,756,591.
  • Synthesized and commercialized Dow’s first hydroxy terminated polyester for powder coatings.
  • Developed and patented recycle process for recovering Toluene Diisocyanate (TDI) from distillation residues (US patent 6,429,336). Catalyst was sodium hydroxide. $12 MM savings annually.
  • Pilot planted 4,4’ methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) process.
  • Invented, patented, synthesized and tested properties of polystrylpyridine thermosetting resins. Catalyst included Lewis acids, bases or salts.  Introduced to aerospace industry and NASA.   Ten US Patents were issued.
  • As a member of a team, we improved and patented injection-molded dual-reactor LLDPE articles.  The LLDPE contained at least one C5-C12-alkene copolymerized with ethylene (see US Patent 5,015,511).
