This Healthcare Supply Chain Expert Consultant currently serves large integrated delivery networks (IDN’s) supply chain executives as a trusted strategic advisor and designer for transformation modeling and optimization strategies. This Healthcare Supply Chain Expert has been honored as an inductee into the Bellwether League Healthcare Supply Chain “Hall of Fame” class of 2018. Considered an early pioneer in the design and development of “Clinically Integrated Supply Chain” models, his guiding principles, leadership capabilities and willingness to share lessons learned stand today as a testament of his legacy contributions to the healthcare industry. In 2002 he founded Julicon Advisors, LLC as a strategic advisory focused on developing strategic business processes and technology solutions for the healthcare supply chain and shared services organizations.

Relevant Accomplishments

  • From 2004 to 2008 Toscano served AmerisourceBergen Corporation (ABC), a fortune 50 healthcare pharmaceutical services supply chain optimization firm as Corporate Vice President – Supply Chain Strategy. His primary responsibilities included senior advisor to ABC’s large heath system accounts, chief supply chain consultant and national account/GPO team leader.
  • From 1993 until 2004 Toscano served Virtua Health, the largest health system in southern New Jersey, as Corporate Vice President for Strategic Support Services. Virtua Health’s revenues exceed $3 billion dollars annually.  In his role at Virtua, Toscano facilitated the merger activities between West Jersey Health System and Memorial Health Alliance that become Virtua Health System. During the merger, he led the design, development, and implementation of Virtua’s integrated shared services HUB. This leading healthcare cooperative serves Virtua’s over 110 network entities including hospitals, nursing care facilities, ambulatory surgery centers, reference laboratories, physician’s practices, community primary care centers, immediate care centers and health fitness centers with fully integrated supply chain and shared services
  • From 1988 to 1993 Mr. Toscano served at the New Jersey Hospital Association’s Group Purchasing/Shared Services Organization as Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer. His overall responsibilities included the leadership and management of the NJHA Group Purchasing Cooperative serving over 102-member healthcare systems and facilities. During his tenure NJHA’s Cooperative Services revenue grew over 25% annually.  NJHA’s committed volume contract portfolio also grew to over $ 4.2 billion dollars annually.  The contracts provided supplies and services in areas of pharmaceuticals, drugs, medical surgical products, food services, maintenance, purchased services and capital equipment. NJHA Group Purchasing experienced significant growth under Toscano’s leadership to become among the largest regional GPOs in the country.
  • From 1984 to 1988 served as Corporate Vice President – Materials Management for West Jersey Health System, Camden, NJ.  New Jersey first multi-hospital system.
  • From 1980 to 1984 served as Corporate Director – Materials Management for Metropolitan Hospitals, Philadelphia, PA / Philadelphia first multi-hospital system
  • As a practitioner and executive coach to supply chain teams, Toscano has extensive experience in leadership development, knowledge transfer, interpersonal relationships, organizational effectiveness and developing performance scorecards and measures. He is frequently asked to speak at seminars and conferences on shared services, clinically integrated supply chains and supply chain innovation in health care.
  • Nicholas is currently a member of the Board of Advisors of the Bellwether League, the Hall of Fame for Healthcare Supply Chain Leadership
  • Toscano formerly served as a Board member for the IDN Summit, the largest healthcare conference management firm of its kind specializing in supplier education, knowledge transfer.  He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Global Healthcare Exchange (GHX), the world’s largest healthcare e-commerce technology solutions firm.
  • Toscano has kept himself grounded in his community. He has volunteered to serve as a Big Brother for the Big Brother/Big Sister Programs in Southern New Jersey.
  • Serves as an advisor to the Stomp the Monster Charity fulfilling the needs of cancer patients as they fight the disease.
  • Serves as an advisor to the United Way of Coastal Georgia
