  • Focus on operations efficiency and continuous process improvement.
    • Consolidated five learning management systems to two.
    • Consolidated three electronic mail systems to one.
    • Physically moved customer-facing employees to central location.
    • Established a 24×7 Help Desk to ensure optimum support outside of business hours.
  • Negotiated new ISP contracts that increased bandwidth x 10 and reduced cost by more than 30%.
  • Led acquisition of major data center upgrade to include a new Storage Area Network (SAN) as well as new virtualization hosts to house 70+ virtualized servers. Extended network to branch campus and to properties near main campus. wired all buildings for 802.11ac access points (went from 50 to 310 APs).
  • Revitalized the VOIP project and completed installation of ShoreTel phone system in 4 months.
  • Oversaw implementation of electronic course catalog, 24×7 self-service electronic transcripts, digitized paper transcripts going back a century, interfaced the state’s new custom ERP.
  • Established a weekly Maintenance Window allowing for planning and scheduling of routine maintenance which had an overall effect of improved system reliability and reducing downtime caused by emergencies.
  • Led collaboration and development, and authored first draft, of the University’s first IT Strategic Plan.
  • Securing the enterprise.
    • Major improvements to the ERP (Banner) and LMS (Blackboard) infrastructure, security, and support of its users. Acquired cyber security liability insurance through the state’s Board of Risk & Insurance Management.
    • Deployed 24×7 self-service enterprise password management software with strong password complexity requirements.
    • Required passcode or password on mobile devices connecting to e-mail, full-disk encryption (FDE) on all laptops. Implemented cybersecurity awareness training as a requirement, gained cooperation of all faculty and staff. Implemented annual confidentiality agreement signing.
