This interim CFO has extensive experience in food manufacturing with General Mills/Yoplait, Schreiber Foods and Pillsbury. He enjoys working with cross-functional leaders, line managers and production staff to translate financial data into clear and concise information to improve decision-making. He has been a team leader on successful SAP manufacturing implementations at General Mills and Pillsbury. By using his skills in SAP systems and financial analysis/reporting, He is able to obtain relevant data, then analyze and report it so that it is easily understood and actionable. His background in inventory accounting and cost accounting have served him well when it comes to working with manufacturing plants. He is also experienced in strategic planning and controllership activities such as month-end close, AOP/forecasting, M&A and banking and risk management. Relevant Accomplishments

  • Inherited responsibility for publication of 30+ page Monthly Operations Report (MOR) that was outdated and irrelevant to current operational needs and rarely read and utilized. Redesigned and streamlined the report by eliminated 20 pages of extraneous commentary, graphs and data points and included only the information that was relevant to current recipients. This freed up several hours a month of three business analysts’ time to pursue more value-added activities.
  • Changed plant AOP process to include line manager/supervisor input on line-speed/t-puts, raw material scrap factors and changeover time for a $300 million plant cost base. This resulted in greater interest and ownership of month end actuals and meeting and exceeding AOP targets.
  • Led a cross-functional team through an operations audit per Board of Directors Audit Committee direction. The team established a list of identified areas of operational concern; met with stakeholders, internal and external audits to review, consult and document process changes/improvements that met new standards.
  • Managed the acquisition and integration of multiple competitor sales organizations for Jostens, Inc as National Sales Finance Manager.
  • Managed the integration of 5 healthcare technology businesses into United Healthcare/Optum as Division Controller and was responsible for their P/L going forward.
  • Standardized monthly reporting and analysis for plant Operations Leadership Team. Led annual operating plan process. Developed KPI scorecard to highlight key variances and metrics. Improved financial integrity, SIOP processes and decision-making.
  • Finance team leader responsible for the installation of SAP manufacturing modules at both General Mills and Pillsbury plants. Trained users at multiple plant and co-pack facilities.
  • Established periodic meetings with line managers/supervisors to educate them on plant financial concepts (labor rates, line staffing, scrap factors, and other cost drivers) and review forecasted expense line item reports such that they understood their span of control and responsibility.
